The exhibition In the Garden Crossword Clue is presented by the artists Ying-Chang Lu and Teng-Yuan Chang, who created this piece of work as a collaboration. This piece, places us in profound universes as we come upon a garden of blooming flowers; in the middle an infinity symbol is twined an assembly of people represented by simple outlines. The figures could signify the artists, Lu and Chang, or their families, or even strangers who meet by coincidence, creating a representation of the luck of chance in meeting someone in our daily lives.
Life is like a cloud that is here one moment and gone the next. Life is beautiful, but it can wither instantly too. Therefore, life can be likened to a small seed. We are constantly growing and learning to good and bad, while also learning about society through family, friends, and strangers. Molding the seed we plant in the soil. A seed is a depository of life’s energy, waiting for its destiny and the right moment to mature and bloom and show its brilliance. That is the meaning of life; that is the loveliness of life; that is the “clue” that people can find in the garden.
With this profound understanding, Lu painted flat flowers as decorations. Each flower representing a life in bloom while they presents a graceful exterior, internally they are in constant competition. Furthermore, Chang uses strong imagery and bright colors in his painting to stimulate our visual senses, and cause us to reevaluate the beauty of flowers in bloom, questing our life’s merit. Both of the artists are concerned about the concepts of life, environment and meaningful human interaction. These are the ideas they built into their ”clue” did you find it?
